本片根据真实故事改编。2001年秋，一对户外旅行人员在人迹罕至的深山老林中发现了两位老人，他们竟是四十多年前从村中失踪的石山（王诗槐饰）和红姑（谢兰饰）。如今的他们仿佛生活在刀耕火种的原始社会，住在自造的土屋内，点着自造的油灯，吃着自种的粮食，喝着山涧的泉水，所有的一切都自给自足。几十年来，他们生育了儿女，也收获了坚贞。近半个世纪过去了，石山靠一双手在山上俢凿了6000多级石阶，为的是不让自己的那个她出门摔跤，而他自己也从一个黒发后生变成了白发老翁，那6000级石阶被人称为“爱情天梯”，亘古的爱情令人深思......。Aryan (Shahid Kapoor) is a talented computer programmer specialising in robotics. He works for his mausi Urmila’s (Dimple Kapadia) tech firm which specialises in creating next-gen robots.
