(Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。1999年底的最后一个工作日，东京一家名为大井物产的商社办公室里传出了欢呼声。台湾高速铁路的机电核心系统的优先议约权由日本新干线反败为胜取得。进公司已4年的多田春香（玻瑠饰）因此被公司派去台湾。对于春香而言，台湾有着她大学暑假初访时惋惜的回忆。与偶遇的台湾青年Eric（炎亚纶饰）一起欢度一天后，无心之下失去了联络方式。在尝试不同方法寻找Eric却无下落后，春香决定将此回忆封闭从此不再去台湾。六年后的今天，春香以新干线建设团队一员，再次踏上这片土地。。神秘的妖怪客栈隐匿于繁华都市之中，唯有缘人方可造访。捉妖师上官扉夜因杀戮过多，被妖的怨念反噬困于客栈不老不死千年。为解除诅咒，上官扉夜被迫将失去记忆的前客栈之主东方照白带回客栈。与此同时，一些原本与二人有瓜葛的客人也陆陆续续来到客栈，他们或是心结未了，或是遗憾未消。在化解客人心中执念的同时，上官体会到了久违的人类情感，东方也逐渐改变了对妖的偏执看法。最终，两人联手击败罪魁祸首妖王，还世间安宁的同时，解开了二人千年前的误会，并在共同经历中重新爱上了彼此。。
