Christmas Carole with Vigil star Jones takes a modern look at the Dickensian classic, with Jones playing an unashamedly outspoken and wealthy tech entrepreneur.。1979年某日，北京南城某个普通的四合院内，丧偶的酱菜厂女工唐玉秀（闫妮）与离异的消防员程大河（周小斌）结为半路夫妻。之前对于这门婚事，玉秀儿子方海（商子见）认为程家是看重父亲留下的四合院，极力反对，而程母（宫景华）及大河弟弟小林（佟悦）的心思也的确被他猜中。大河女儿媛媛（代乐乐）则像方海仇视大河一样，不拿正眼瞧玉秀。 婚后玉秀及大河将夫妻角色摆在最后，协力为一大家人顾后忙前，媛媛及方海渐渐感动于他们的良苦用心。其后，小林在哥嫂的帮忙下，迎娶爱恋许久的莉莉（姚晨）；媛媛与忠厚老实的读书人路南（喻恩泰）成亲；方海得生意人谢伯达（洪剑涛）照顾有了事业，并与青梅竹马的郭小卓（倪虹洁）确定关系；玉秀及大河更是有了自己的孩子程军（董博文）。 大家庭摩擦虽不断，却也慢慢奏出和谐曲。没料想，几年后玉秀及大河照顾有加的小林两口子，竟会拿房子及程军同他们说事。。In this bitingly satirical film Peter Slovan, a continuous source of trouble for the film functionaries of the socialist Slovakia, tackles an evergreen topic – the corruptive effects of power. Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power.
