Taking nine pivotal years (1964, 1966, 1967, 1970, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1987, 1995) the personal lives of the characters become intertwined with the political struggles of their home town of Newcastle, and the capital...。1950年代，福建闽江。白花洲互助组长李银花和共青团员杨小龙自幼青梅竹马，有着共同的志向。小龙的父亲杨才发是单干户，在走互助合作的道路上父子俩有分歧。银花组里也有几个自私自利的人，他们因评工分不合理起过争执，后来银花主持公道，才化解了矛盾。小龙想借父亲生日让银花帮他做爸爸的工作，结果串门的安安一通瞎说反而让杨才发更加生气。桔树闹起虫灾，杨才发想用独家“秘方”灭虫，结果失败。关健时刻，银花依靠上级党组织，从区上运来了杀虫剂和喷雾器，帮桔农们度过了难关……。
