电影《农机站长》是根据自治区优秀共产党员、固原市农机站站长马宗义的先进事迹创作的。上世纪90年代后期，西海固地区绝大部分农民都已解决温饱，向着小康生活目标迈进，家家户户差不多都换掉了毛驴车，购买了农用三轮车。但由于种种原因，有些农民购车后，既不挂牌入户，也不参加培训，还非法拉人载客，酿成了许多重大交通事故，使这些已富裕起来的家庭又陷入贫困境地。为让农民平安奔小康，快要退休的农机站长马宗义回到家乡，大力贯彻《交通安全法》，以自己的真情和奉献精神感动了乡亲，使该村的农用车管理工作走上正轨。。As America recovers from the Civil War, one man tries to put the pieces of his life back together but finds himself fighting a new battle on the frontier.
