有线电的王牌安装员（金凯瑞饰），从不轻易出马，因为只要他一出马，一定会有订户遭殃。史帝芬（马修.布罗德里克饰），因为原先分期付款的有线电视订户开溜了，所以史帝芬就接收过来了。并且决定接受一些电影频道业者提供免费有线电视装置。但是他万万没想到看似平凡的有线电视安装员竟是搅局专家，不顾死活的拼命拉生意，榨乾了这个可怜客户的荷包后，索性入侵史帝芬的生活，连史帝芬情有独钟的罗频(莱斯利.曼恩饰)，也被他天花乱坠的口才所迷住……。Would you fall in love with a person whose voice you haven't heard for months, whose face you haven't touched, you can't smell, you don't even have the chance to pass by the same street, you can't even be in the same photo, who is miles away from you, even by seas, islands and cities。
