萨姆（尚格·云顿 Jean-Claude Van Damme 饰）是一名越狱的逃犯，逃亡的途中，他结识了善良单纯的男孩穆吉（基南·卡尔金 Kieran Culkin 饰），身份和个性都截然不同的两人之间竟然结下了深厚的友谊。 穆吉带着妹妹布莉（Tiffany Taubman 饰），和母亲斯莱迪（罗姗娜·阿奎特 Rosanna Arquette 饰）一起过着相依为命的生活，一家人经营着一间农场，收入勉强能够维持生计。某日，富商富兰克林（乔斯·雅克兰德 Joss Ackland 饰）找到了斯莱迪，提出要收购她的农场，改建成一座高尔夫球场。斯莱迪自然不会答应富兰克林的要求，离开赖以生存的老家，眼见自己提出的条件撼动不了斯莱迪坚韧的意志，弗兰克利开始使用起了恐吓和威胁的低劣手段。。Malvís (Alfredo Landa) is sick of working like crazy for nothing.
