(Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。清末民初时，靠给人算命为生的金添儿因瞎话露馅被嘎杂子挂大扁儿追打，误闯京城五大镖局“赶山拔魁”的现场，阴差阳错地拔了金魁镖旗，莫名其妙地成了这次“赶山拔魁”的大把式/总镖头，被逼接下了护送皇杠的镖活；金添儿由此踏上了一段生死未卜、却又令人啼笑皆非的亡命之旅。在这次护送皇杠的旅途中，他误打误撞的躲过了一次次的人为追杀，不仅救了五大镖局还获得了自身的成长。。
