影片围绕一段将过去与现在交织在一起的传说展开，聚焦于日本最负盛名的自杀地——青木原森林。一天，响和妹妹在屋子的下方发现了一个被上了诅咒的盒子，据说它会夺走一切触碰盒子的人的生命。为了找出母亲自杀的原因以及有关盒子的真相，二人共同前往那个传说中的树海。。工藤の長編3作目「遠いところ」は、沖縄の若年層の実態を描いた物語。沖縄の子供の困窮した状況、DV、シングルマザーの様子を追ったルポルタージュに工藤が自身の生い立ちを重ね合わせたことから企画が生まれ、独自に取材を重ね全編沖縄で撮影した。。Givers of Death (G.O.D.) is an apocalyptic sci-fi tale of redemption. It is the journey of a man, a detective, and an entire city's quest for peace. The man seeks peace through atonement, the detective through revenge and the city through resolution.
