《人面鱼：红衣小女孩外传》改编自台湾乡野传说“人面鱼“，1990年代有人在高雄县冈山镇（今高雄市冈山区）出游钓起一尾吴郭鱼（罗非鱼），烧烤食用时却听到诡异的声音询问：“鱼肉好吃否？”之后其拍摄的照片鱼的上头还浮现人脸，令当事人毛骨悚然，不过事件本身有诸多疑点被认为是无根据的谣传。。本片基于真实历史故事改编。1942年1月，日本战争机器的铁蹄席卷东南亚。在这里，有一个叫做新不列颠的岛屿上，有一座天主教传教站，这里的澳大利亚护士们克服种种困难的条件，悉心照顾手上的澳大利亚士兵。(文/life_is_good@YDY) January, 1942.
